More About Our Collectable Card Games & Role-Playing Games —
Yugioh, the collectible card game, was created by Kazuki Takahashi in 1998 from a manga of the same name. The first set to be released was Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon (LBOD). Some notable cards in this initial set were “Blue Eyes White Dragon” and “Exodia”. Following this release, Metal Raiders (MRD) was released with cards such as “Mirror Force” and “Summoned Skull”. In more recent times the release of Invasion of Chaos (IOC) brought with it some powerful cards including “Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning” and “Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End”. Following this release came Ancient Sanctuary (AST) containing the “Sanctuary in the Sky” and “Archlord Zerato”.
Many more sets have been and will be released. Look for many of these to be coming to Laboda Stores.
Magic: The Gathering was created by Richard Garfield in 1993 after 2 years of planning and design. The first release was titled Alpha and was the only set to feature square cornered cards. The subsequent releases have rounded corners.
Beta, the set that followed Alpha, was primarily a re-release of Alpha with more clarity brought to the rules and cards. Some cards from Alpha and Beta can fetch upwards of a few hundred dollars with the “Black Lotus” commanding roughly $1,500 per card. Later releases included Arabian Nights, Legends, Stronghold, Visions, Urzas Saga, Onslaught, Mirrodin, and the latest release Champions of Kamigawa. Another set of note was Unglued, featuring joke cards such as “Elvish Impersonators” and “Confetti”.
